Spurs offr made for 21yo Argentinian striker

We all know Tottenham are looking for two strikers, at least one of them a young striker and that Paul Mitchell has been brought in to unearth talent before they become big players.



Spurs use a statistical approach, as do most clubs, and then move on to analytically appraise a player before scouts are sent in person to watch. A network suggests names as well and another name that has been unearthed may be new to English fans.

Mundo Deportivo report that Tottenham have shown an interest in 21-year-old Villareal striker Luciano Vietto who was having his first season outside Argentina. The story says that Barcelona have decided not to pursue their interest so he is free to join other clubs.

They say his agent, Jorge Cyterszpile, has declined the Villareal offer of a new contract with a £29.11 million (US$44.45m - AUS$57.67m - €40m) release clause. He has three other offers on the table from Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid.

Fellow Spanish outlet AS however say Arsenal and Liverpool triggering a £14.2 million (US$21.72m - AUS$28.09m - €19.5m) release clause in his contract, a contract that runs until 2019. Spanish clubs when they offer a wage increase link that to increasing the release clause in a players contract. It's uncommon in the Premier League but a widespread practice in Europe hence the foreign speculation that Hugo Lloris must have a release clause, he hasn't.

Vietto scored a goal every 159 minutes in La Liga (12 in 32 games) and 20 in all competitions with 8 assists. He is right footed and is good on the floor, not so good in the air. He has been dubbed the new Sergio Aguero and many an expert thinks he is a real gem in the making.
